Planning Permission Costs

These will vary from council to council all over the UK. I currently live in Hertfordshire in Dacorum.
The Dacorum council costs (which is where we needed to apply to) for applications can be found here. (It's a PDF file). Remember this is a guide and you'll need to find out what the costs are from the friendly council people in your area!
As we went for a 'Lawful Development Certificate for a proposed use' for a rear extension (and also loft conversion but we don't know if we'll ever do it) we ended up paying £75 for the application and £40 for the block plans which we bought from 'Plans ahead' which is pretty easy to use as it's all online and you get your maps pretty much instantly once you have told the website which ones you want!
This was obviously a cheaper option than full planning permission and involved far less work to get it through.
One point to note is that you do not need to apply for a lawful development certificate if you are building within the guidelines for 'permitted development' however, we decided to protect ourselves just incase we had problems when we came to sell and the law had changed!
